I recently published articles on the top countries in the world in terms of plug-in vehicle market share and fully electric vehicle market share — that is, the countries with the highest shares of their overall auto sales coming from plug-in vehicle sales or from 100% electric vehicle sales.
I recently published a report on the top 5 countries in terms of plugin vehicle market share (percentage of their auto sales coming from plugin vehicle sales). Underneath that article, some readers requested that I do a report focused only on fully electric vehicles. I thought that was a good idea, so here’s a report on that topic.
In January, I wrote about four countries leading the world in electric vehicle adoption — not in terms of absolute sales, but in terms of plugin vehicle market share in those countries. My main interest was examining how their adoption curves looked and if they were similar. Half a year later, here’s an update.
In January, I wrote about the inspiring electric vehicle adoption trends in 4 top electric vehicle (EV) markets — Norway, Iceland, the Netherlands, and Sweden. I wasn’t planning to provide an update on these countries until at least the end of the 1st quarter, but the results in February were so uplifting that I decided to jump the gun.
Fully electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids combined to account for a surprising 37% of the auto market in Iceland in February. That’s up from an already impressive 25% in 2019.
