The coronavirus is daunting, and while many are fearful, many more are stepping up to help make an impact and save lives. Tesla China is helping with the fight against the coronavirus by donating ¥5M to the local CDC in hopes of helping to fight the fast-spreading outbreak.
This morning Tesla released its Q4 2019 vehicle production and deliveries results, delivering an all time record of approximately 112,000 vehicles in Q4 and ~367,500 vehicles in 2019 overall. This result exceeds the lower end of Tesla’s annual guidance (360,000 to 400,000 vehicles) and is a 50% increase over 2018 deliveries.
Steady work continues on the Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory, even through the Dragon Boat Festival holiday this past weekend. Let’s check in with on the progress via the latest videos from Wuwa Vision and Jason Yang.
Demand for the Tesla Model 3 remains very high in California, with 15,805 sales throughout Q1 2019, giving it the #1 spot in terms of revenue out of all vehicle models sold — and by a huge margin (79% more than the runner up). As reported last night, it also held the third spot in terms of unit sales.
The latest aerial video from the Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory site, courtesy of Jason Yang, shows the main structure of the factory very close to completion. The remaining roof and wall patches on the north and south extremities look set to be completed this week, with largely weather/cosmetic finishing of some surfaces remaining. Focus is now shifting to work on the loading bays and the factory’s internals.
