As you can see from the title of this piece, Milan just placed one of the West’s biggest electric bus orders, an order for 100 electric buses from Solaris, which goes on top of 40 electric buses put into service last year.

There have been quite a lot of electric bus stories lately. We reported on several in August, but there were at least another 13 that we didn’t get to. Below are short summaries of each of those. First, though, here are the 8 that we already wrote about:
Over the past weeks Solaris Bus & Coach landed a substantial order — for 120 city buses of the Urbino 18 type. These buses will be handed over to the transport company Egged and they will be used for public transport in Jerusalem.
Solaris has signed another contract for the delivery of electric buses on the Polish market. The operator Miejskie Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacji (MPK) in Radom has ordered 9 Solaris Urbino 12 electric with the pertinent charging infrastructure. Worth nearly 28.5 million PLN, the contract will be carried out by mid-July 2021.
Public transport operator Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacji Miejskiej (PKM) in Sosnowiec is buying more electric Solaris buses. The contract covers the delivery of 9 solo buses Urbino 12 electric and 5 articulated Urbino 18 electric, including the charging infrastructure.
The city of Hamburg is one of the first in Europe or the Americas to follow the lead of Chinese cities and switch over 100% to purchasing electric buses, rather than gas, diesel, and natural gas buses. In the coming five years, it plans to get 530 new buses, all 100% electric.

Solaris delivered its first electric bus in Poland in 2015. Today over 150 of these zero-emission vehicles cruise the streets of 20 Polish cities. Another over 300 vehicles are currently in production or shortly before delivering.
