The Netherlands had 2,058 plug-in electric vehicle registrations in October, up 147% year over year (YoY), which translates into a plug-in electric vehicle share of 6.8% in the country. That also pulls the year-to-date count to 17,035 units, with the 2018 plug-in electric vehicle share now growing to 4.3%.
The German plug-in electric passenger car market was down 12% in September, to 4,626 registrations, with PHEVs stumbling 24% year over year (YoY). This was no doubt due to the pre-WLTP summer sales rush. Nonetheless, fully electric cars (BEVs) kept on growing (+5%), allowing full electrics to sell at the same level as PHEVs.
September had 2,796 plug-in vehicle registrations, which was the market’s best result since 2016. That translated into a plug-in vehicle (PEV) share of 9.5% in the country. The result pulls the year-to-date count to 14,977 units, with the 2018 PEV share growing to 4.1%.
The German plug-in vehicle (PEV) passenger car market grew 23% in August, to 5,888 registrations, with BEVs growing slower (+13%) than PHEVs (+31%). In 2018, fully electrics saw their share drop slightly to 0.9% share, while plug-in hybrids remained stable at 1%, making the total PEV share now 1.9%.
The Netherlands had 1,362 plug-in car registrations in July, up 208% compared to the same month last year. Those 1,362 pulled the year-to-date count to 10,444 units (+139%). That meant that last month’s EV market share of all car sales reached 3.8%, and the 2018 EV market share figure held steady at 3.6%.
The German plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) market grew 31% in July, to 5,617 registrations, with BEVs growing faster (+39%) than PHEVs (+28%). In 2018, fully electric cars are now reaching 1% market share on their own and so are plug-in hybrids, resulting in a total PEV share of 2%.

Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) slowed down significantly (+6%), while fully electric cars (BEVs) continued growing at a healthy pace (+52%). In 2018, with all-electrics reaching 1% share and plug-in hybrids are dropping their share to 0.9%, the total PEV share of the German car market is 1.9%.
April had 1,311 plug-in car registrations in the Netherlands, up 123% compared to the same period last year, pulling the year-to-date count to 6,765 units (+128%), and pulling the 2018 share slightly up, to 3.3%. Fully electric cars (BEVs) represented 88% of all PEV sales.
