Years ago I wrote about my expectation, based on simple logic, that around this time, in the C-segment (e.g., Volkswagen Golf) and the lower-cost models of the D-segment (e.g., Skoda Superb), fully electric autos would become price competitive with their fossil fuel ancestors.
I have no doubt that many plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) owners work to max out the EV aspect of their vehicles. However, it would be incorrect to believe that all PHEV owners do so. Some don’t even plug in their PHEVs.
Koenigsegg, that Swedish builder of ultra high-end, high-tech, high-performance hypercars, has done it again. Originally set to debut at the (cancelled) 2020 Geneva show, the Koenigsegg Gemera four-passenger super GT is the electrified 200+ MPH supercar you’ve been waiting for.
Like nearly every other mainstream concept these days, the Hyundai Vision T features a high degree of electrification. In this case, the car is built around a plug-in hybrid powertrain that, according to the press release, “indicat(es) its eco-lifestyle focus and inherent balance with the environment in which it is driven.”
