Tesla vs Porsche EV Rivalry Accelerates the Death of Fossil Vehicles

September 22nd, 2019 | by Dr. Maximilian Holland

Whilst seemingly irrelevant to everyday driving, the ongoing competition between Tesla and Porsche over EV performance supremacy is quickly demonstrating that fossil sports cars are becoming obsolete — an important symbolic milestone for the EV revolution which will have repercussions in higher volume segments. If Porsche wants its Taycan to keep pace with the Tesla Model S Plaid, Porsche will have to allow it to outperform the company's current flagship Panamera combustion sedan. And that will only highlight the inferiority of fossil vehicles

Porsche Taycan Already Faster Than Panamera Sibling & Other Combustion Peers Around Twisty Race Tracks

September 1st, 2019 | by Dr. Maximilian Holland

Despite not surpassing some of its combustion peers over the full lap of the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit, a recently released onboard lap video shows that the Porsche Taycan has effectively outperformed its Panamera sibling (and the BMW M5 and M5 Competition) over the twisty first half of the course. This indicates that on the vast majority of the world's race circuits, where mid-speed corners dominate over high speed straightaways, the Taycan will be able to lap faster than the Panamera and similar 4-door saloons, such as the BMW

How Did A Nissan LEAF Beat A Tesla Model S In A Race?

July 16th, 2019 | by Jennifer Sensiba

The Nissan LEAF certainly doesn't have a reputation as a serious performance car. With far less power than any Tesla, "semi-independent" rear suspension like you'd find under a Chevy Cavalier, and many similarities with the Versa, the LEAF is widely regarded as an economy car, not a luxury or sports car. It certainly isn't seen as a real competitor to a Tesla, even an older Model

June 5th, 2019 | by Steve Hanley

When Alejandro Agag first pitched his idea for an electric car racing series, people laughed at him. They aren't laughing anymore. Formula E is doing well, thank you very much, and all the world's major car makers are trying to elbow their way into the competition

Tesla Model 3 Performance Snow Rallying At Night — Totally Rocks It!

February 3rd, 2019 | by Guest Contributor

I’ve been competing in Navigational road rallying for over 30 years and it’s been one of my absolute most favorite pastimes. When I say Navigational rallies, often called TSD (Time, Speed, Distance) rallies in the United States, people often confuse this with Performance rallying as seen in the WRC series. Not the same thing! Navigational rallying is done on public roads and therefore competitors need to obey all of the applicable traffic laws. It isn’t so much a race as it is a precision driving event. The three golden rules are: stay on the road, stay on the correct route, and stay precisely on schedule

Tesla Model S P100DL — A Disaster For Gasheads

August 5th, 2017 | by Guest Contributor

Street racing is a subculture with a rich history, as well as its own etiquette and language. Back in the 1800s, young swells were racing horse-drawn carriages on Woodward Avenue in Detroit. In the 1960s, their grandkids were facing off in Pontiac GTOs. Nowadays, Generation Z is getting used to the idea that the future of racing might be electric

June 30th, 2017 | by Cynthia Shahan

The London Taxi Company's all-electric taxi has been tested intensely and over thousands of miles in both hot and cold climate endurance tests in the Arizona desert and Arctic Circle. This week, the zero emissions taxi prototype took on another first. On Thursday, June 29, one of London Taxi Company (LTC)’s all-new range-extended electric taxi test vehicles silently made the world-famous Goodwood Hillclimb
