Gemtek’s Tesla Model 3 Will Be Taking On A Targa Rally Once Again

October 17th, 2020 | by Johnna Crider

Back in August, I shared the story about a Tesla Model 3 winning a Targa rally for the first time. The race was held at Targa South West in Australia and was divided into different categories. For the first time, Gemtek's Tesla Model 3 won the Targa 130, which featured 16 stages

Tesla Model S Shames Ferrari F12 In A Drag Race (Video)

June 29th, 2020 | by Iqtidar Ali

In the midst of many cool Tesla races, a video clip of a 1/4-mile drag race between a Tesla Model S P100D and Ferrari F12 displays yet another insult to the internal combustion engine — this pricey Italian exotic was at the mercy of an all-electric family sedan. But, there was no mercy

Tesla Model S Plaid Prototype Laps the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7:13

November 5th, 2019 | by Dr. Maximilian Holland

Respected German publication Auto Motor und Sport is reporting that the Tesla Model S Plaid prototype has been hand-timed lapping the Nordschleife in 7 minutes and 13 seconds, according to the outlet's local source. Adjusting for race-compound tires, this puts the Tesla around 19 seconds ahead of the Taycan Turbo's 7:42 lap time reported by Porsche in August. It's also faster than every gas-powered 4-door series production car 'round the 'ring

October 30th, 2019 | by Guest Contributor

Some of Tesla's fastest all-electric sedans recently faced down a powerful contender on an abandoned airport runway (turned into a drag strip). The contender? The feared Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. Racers call it the F12B — a 730 hp beast fitted with a 6.3L V12 engine

Design lab @Atellani had the chance talk to the living icon during his casual Model 3 drive and shared the outcome of the meeting

Tesla vs Porsche EV Rivalry Accelerates the Death of Fossil Vehicles

September 22nd, 2019 | by Dr. Maximilian Holland

Whilst seemingly irrelevant to everyday driving, the ongoing competition between Tesla and Porsche over EV performance supremacy is quickly demonstrating that fossil sports cars are becoming obsolete — an important symbolic milestone for the EV revolution which will have repercussions in higher volume segments. If Porsche wants its Taycan to keep pace with the Tesla Model S Plaid, Porsche will have to allow it to outperform the company's current flagship Panamera combustion sedan. And that will only highlight the inferiority of fossil vehicles

Porsche Taycan Already Faster Than Panamera Sibling & Other Combustion Peers Around Twisty Race Tracks

September 1st, 2019 | by Dr. Maximilian Holland

Despite not surpassing some of its combustion peers over the full lap of the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit, a recently released onboard lap video shows that the Porsche Taycan has effectively outperformed its Panamera sibling (and the BMW M5 and M5 Competition) over the twisty first half of the course. This indicates that on the vast majority of the world's race circuits, where mid-speed corners dominate over high speed straightaways, the Taycan will be able to lap faster than the Panamera and similar 4-door saloons, such as the BMW

How Did A Nissan LEAF Beat A Tesla Model S In A Race?

July 16th, 2019 | by Jennifer Sensiba

The Nissan LEAF certainly doesn't have a reputation as a serious performance car. With far less power than any Tesla, "semi-independent" rear suspension like you'd find under a Chevy Cavalier, and many similarities with the Versa, the LEAF is widely regarded as an economy car, not a luxury or sports car. It certainly isn't seen as a real competitor to a Tesla, even an older Model

Electric Car Racing News: Volkswagen ID.R & Electric Marathon Rally

June 5th, 2019 | by Steve Hanley

When Alejandro Agag first pitched his idea for an electric car racing series, people laughed at him. They aren't laughing anymore. Formula E is doing well, thank you very much, and all the world's major car makers are trying to elbow their way into the competition

Tesla Model 3 Performance Snow Rallying At Night — Totally Rocks It!

February 3rd, 2019 | by Guest Contributor

I’ve been competing in Navigational road rallying for over 30 years and it’s been one of my absolute most favorite pastimes. When I say Navigational rallies, often called TSD (Time, Speed, Distance) rallies in the United States, people often confuse this with Performance rallying as seen in the WRC series. Not the same thing! Navigational rallying is done on public roads and therefore competitors need to obey all of the applicable traffic laws. It isn’t so much a race as it is a precision driving event. The three golden rules are: stay on the road, stay on the correct route, and stay precisely on schedule
