Nissan Formula E Team Clinches Superb Monaco Victory

MONACO, Monte-Carlo — Nissan Formula E Team claimed victory at Monaco in Round 10 of the 2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship with Oliver Rowland, recovering superbly from a difficult Saturday in the Principality.

Lining up 12th and 14th for Saturday’s Round 9, both Rowland and teammate Norman Nato had difficulties on the streets of Monte-Carlo. Rowland saved his energy well initially, allowing him to move up into the top 10, before a puncture forced him to pit. After coming in again to complete his Pit Boost stop, the Brit showed solid pace but was too far back to recover, crossing the line in 15th.

In the #23 car, Nato was given a drive-through penalty for a tire pressure infringement in the opening stages, which compromised his strategy and, despite his best efforts, the Frenchman finished 14th.

In qualifying for today’s Round 10, both drivers showed better one-lap pace, as Rowland progressed to the Duels to secure eighth on the grid, while Nato narrowly missed out by just 0.017 seconds, starting just behind in ninth.

Rowland saved energy well during the first part of the E-Prix and waited for the opportunity to move forward, which came on Lap 20, when he took his final six minutes of Attack Mode. An excellent strategy from the team allowed the Brit to make his way up into the lead of the race within just three laps of activating his Attack Mode. He then expertly controlled the remainder of the event, wrapping up his and the team’s first victory of Season 12, also securing an additional point for fastest lap.

On the other side of the garage, Nato showed solid early pace as he battled inside the top 10. However, at the end of Lap 5 coming through the final corner, the Frenchman was pushed into the barrier by another car, suffering race ending damage.

Formula E returns on 19-20 June in China, with a first visit to Sanya since 2019.

Saturday’s race was frustrating with the unavoidable puncture, but the pace we showed gave us confidence heading into today. It was a crazy race with a lot of drivers starting out at such a high pace. I knew we had to remain disciplined and stick to our plan as well as staying out of trouble. I was always confident throughout as the team kept me well informed and we took the second Attack Mode at the perfect time. It’s been an up and down first half of the season, but I know if we can improve in qualifying then we’ll be fighting towards the front for the remainder of the year.”

Norman Nato, driver, Nissan Formula E Team: “It was a challenging weekend for me, qualifying was tough on Saturday and then the early penalty compromised our race. We had better one-lap pace today, and then Oli and I worked well together in the opening laps as we saved energy and maintained our positions. Unfortunately, I was pushed into the barrier at the final corner on Lap 5, forcing me to retire, which was a shame after such a positive start. It’s frustrating as we had a good strategy and will never know where we could’ve finished today. Congratulations to Oli for the victory!
