In the wake of historic summer blackouts that left more than 700 million Indians without power, a new report released this week by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), an India-based independent research organization, shows that concentrated solar power can play an … [continued]
A city completely powered by renewable energy is an environmentalist’s dream come true. And they’re making it come true in Masdar, Abu Dhabi. That’s right, with a combined approach of concentrated solar power, local sourcing of materials, a construction scrap recycling center, and pedestrian friendly planning, Masdar is looking … [continued]
Talk about cutting out the middleman! A California company called LightManufacturing has figured out a way to fire up a plastic molding process with a concentrated solar power system, and the kicker is the system has no solar cells to generate electricity. Instead, heliostats (aka mirrors) provide all the … [continued]

Here’s some more top cleantech news from around: Solar Power eSolar and Sanmina-SCI Partner to Advance CSP: eSolar and Sanmina-SCI have “announced that they have partnered to leverage their respective expertise in solar thermal energy … [continued]
Saudi Arabia is well known for being a leading exporter of crude oil, but soon enough it may also add substantial solar to its energy profile. The country is planning to have a solar capacity of 41,000 megawatts by 2032. How will it grow so much in just twenty … [continued]
The NREL has published a precise profile of greenhouse gas emissions from renewable and fossil fuel energy generation technologies.
The concentrated solar power (aka concentrating solar power) market will continue to grow, even in the midst of solar PV’s rapid cost reductions. According to the latest reports, China is projected to have 1,000 MW (or 1 GW) of concentrated solar thermal power (CSP) capacity by 2015 and 3 … [continued]
Because of all the media attention about solar power, most people think of photovoltaic (PV) solar panels. People in or on the fringe of the clean energy business might know about the Chinese’ so called “dumping” of low cost PV panels onto the U. S. market; about how schools … [continued]
When officials from AORA Solar cut the blue ribbon to launch the Tulip CSP system in Spain, I was able to sit with Pinchas Doron, PhD, AORA’s chief technology officer, to learn more of this innovative hybrid system. What follows is a condensed version of that interview.
Boulder City, Nevada is best known as the home of Hoover Dam, once the largest hydroelectric power plant in the country. But the rapid expansion of solar power projects is quickly making a name for the city as the first solar-financed town in America.
