A parliament usually only asks an auto company to show up if something went very wrong. Either a financial bailout is needed or another huge scandal happened, like with the diesel cheating devices that polluted the environment and its citizens for years. Why was Tesla invited by the parliament in Brandenburg to provide a presentation at the end of August?
As the end of August approaches, let’s check in again on the construction progress at Tesla’s Berlin Gigafactory. Guess what? There’s yet another roof going up, this time on the body-in-white building.
Construction is progressing at a rapid clip at Tesla Gigafactory Berlin, with a roof and walls now going up on a second structure — the drive unit building.
I’m thinking that it’s about time to regularly monitor the construction progress at Tesla’s Berlin Gigafactory, and to leverage the competitive spirit of the German psyche. We saw incredible construction speed at Gigafactory Shanghai (Giga Shanghai) once the structural build got going in spring 2019.
Tesla is building the Giga Berlin factory without certain permits. This is required in order to build at the desired speed. There is the risk, though, of having to tear things down if permits are refused. That reduces Tesla’s negotiating power.
Elon Musk will be attending the Giga Berlin groundbreaking ceremony later this month, Armen Hareyan of Torque News indicates. In the Torque News video, Hareyan refers to another news article quoting Jorg Steinbach, Brandenburg’s Economic Minister, who said the groundbreaking ceremony for Tesla’s fourth Gigafactory in Berlin will be scheduled in March.
