In what’s becoming a bit of a tradition for Geely-owned brands, Polestar has announced plans to debut its upcoming Polestar 5 in style, running it at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The original Polestar 1 made its debut at Goodwood a few years ago, followed by a performance-oriented variant of the Polestar 2 and the 2000 hp, all-electric Lotus Evija hypercar. This year, it’s Polestar 5’s turn, and it’ll be joined by the Precept concept, the Polestar 2 BST edition 270 (the production version of that hot 2), and the ultra-slick 02 Roadster.
“Goodwood is our favorite place to show our cars in an enthusiast environment,” comments Polestar CEO, Thomas Ingenlath. “This year, we are thrilled to showcase Polestar 5 going up the hill! Our UK R&D team is doing an amazing job developing the car, and we are proud to be able to highlight their hard work at this early stage.”
The Polestar 5 prototype (and its concept siblings) will be on display at Goodwood’s “First Glance Paddock,” and complete several timed drives up the hill during the historic Hillclimb event, giving everyone a good look at it– and, odds are, they’ll like what they see.
That’s because the stylist behind the latest Polestar cars has won the 2022 Best Brand Design Language award at the prestigious international Car Design Awards. Maximilian Missoni, Polestar’s Head of Design, received the trophy (yes, a literal trophy) at a ceremony held in Milan at the ADI Design Museum this past weekend. It’s just the most recent reward for the Swedish electric car brand, which has racked up over 100 international industry awards since 2020 and shows consistent year-over-year growth with both consumer and large fleet buyers falling victim to the brand’s charms.
“Continuous recognition from press and consumers is proof that our brand values resonate strongly in various ways. Polestar 2 continues to impress,” says Ingenlath. “Our future products will also be high achievers, including Polestar 3, our first SUV, which we will premiere in October 2022.”
Speaking as a Volvo/Polestar fan: I can’t wait!

I don't like paywalls. You don't like paywalls. Who likes paywalls? Here at CleanTechnica, we implemented a limited paywall for a while, but it always felt wrong — and it was always tough to decide what we should put behind there. In theory, your most exclusive and best content goes behind a paywall. But then fewer people read it! We just don't like paywalls, and so we've decided to ditch ours. Unfortunately, the media business is still a tough, cut-throat business with tiny margins. It's a never-ending Olympic challenge to stay above water or even perhaps — gasp — grow. So ...
