What motivates people to key a Tesla? Why all the hate?
Police in Broomfield, Colorado, have identified a woman who was caught by Sentry Mode keying a Tesla Model 3, according to CBS Denver. You may have seen the video on Twitter and Facebook of the woman, who just walked up and keyed the vehicle.
I got to enjoy Tesla vehicle software V10 10 days ago, and I have been suffering ever since while I have waited for my car to get the upgrade. The banquet of wonderful, beautiful, thrilling, boring, and fun new features perhaps makes this Tesla’s best vehicle software update yet. I already wrote about most of the improvements in that previous article. However, there are a few updates I didn’t note (or know about) at the time, so here are a few updates (regarding the updates):
Tesla’s Sentry Mode catches some pretty interesting moments, along with the usual thieves and vandals. It’s like the “Kodak moments” of a previous generation. Some of the moments are pretty funny. Some are scary. Some are awe-inspiring.
Yes, Tesla cars are cool. They’re the quickest cars on the market, the safest cars on the market, and the highest tech cars on the market. It’s hard to overstate or even properly explain why they stand out and are genuinely in a class of their own. However, it’s not just that they’re quick, safe, and high tech. Tesla is starting to transform what it means to be a car.
Tesla’s Sentry Mode watched a fistfight go down in DC a few days ago. In the video posted on YouTube by Adeel Chohan, two guys wearing DCG tee shirts come from around the corner at a fast pace and then break out into a bouncy fistfight that has them jumping back and forth.
Police in Fairfield, California, were quick to credit the built-in camera system in the Tesla Model 3 with helping them identify a suspect in a smash and grab theft from a Tesla Model 3 this week.
Tesla’s Sentry Mode is always saving the day, or at least helping police solve crimes that without witnesses are hard to solve and get pushed aside until new evidence shows up. In this case, a BMW owner benefitted from Tesla’s Sentry Mode.
Video footage from Tesla’s Sentry Mode is not always pertaining to law-breaking incidents like theft or vandalism. Some footage can actually be fun and provide a sense of pride for Tesla owners. For instance, check out the following scene captured from one of Tesla’s side-repeater dashcams that showcases a couple of strangers admiring a Model 3.
To the average American, Tesla is just another topic in the news alongside China, Trump, the weather, terrorism, national disasters, local sports, and celebrity gossip. They have their morning coffee, rush to work, and glance at the news on their phones. Actually, many Americans work rotating shifts. Those shifts may begin at 9:00 PM at night — and they may not have time to catch up on the news. Unless someone is exposed to Tesla via a customer, fan, or shareholder, they will often only know from what they hear or see in the news.
A Tesla driver was recently the victim of a hit and run, but thanks to the integrated TelsaCam camera system and some help from the Maryland State Police, the owner was able to find the culprit.
