No, Tesla Is NOT The Largest US Automaker Ever

January 8th, 2020 | by Frugal Moogal

Over the last couple of days, as Tesla continues on this monstrous run, the media seems to have been noting that Tesla is now more valuable than any US automaker's market cap ever. (Tesla is currently almost exactly the market cap of Ford and GM combined, around $88 billion.) Even though I would now plant myself firmly in the "bull" camp, this is completely untrue, and I think it paints a problematic picture of Tesla

Tesla’s Website Through The Years

December 23rd, 2019 | by Johnna Crider

It's a new year, a new decade, and a new Tesla. As we zoom into 2020, we can look back over the years and see how not only Tesla the company has evolved but also its website. In 2010, we didn't have HTML5 yet and flash websites were all the rage. Also, MySpace was just starting to fizzle out. The 2010s are the decade we are finishing, but Tesla's website history goes back to 2007, so this is where we will begin. (There was even a time in which many thought we were all going to die in 2012 — Mayan Prophecy — but we survived and so did Tesla, luckily.)

Largest US Solar Panel Manufacturers By Capacity

December 18th, 2019 | by Johnna Crider

Some of the largest US solar panel manufacturers by capacity will probably see growth over the next decade as we (society in general) move toward using more sustainable, renewable energy. The US solar panel manufacturing has certainly matured a great deal in the past decade, with many companies not making it while others grow to lead the pack. Solar Power World has published a list of the largest solar panel manufacturers in the US by capacity

Walmart Sues Tesla Over Rooftop Solar Fires

August 22nd, 2019 | by Steve Hanley

Back in 2010, Walmart was one of the first major companies to get involved with the solar power revolution. It teamed up with SolarCity, the rooftop solar company started by Elon Musk's cousins Lyndon Rive and Peter Rive, to install rooftop solar arrays on 224 of its stores. To date, seven of those rooftop installations have caught fire, causing millions of dollars in structural damage and lost sales

Member-Owned Community Solar Poised For National Adoption

April 11th, 2019 | by Charles W. Thurston

Community solar projects are sweeping the nation, enabling individuals to benefit from solar energy even if they don’t have panels on their house or apartment building. The financial design of a community solar project may vary widely, however, which can make or break any savings that a system could yield for the consumer.

Florida Public Service Commission Opens The Floodgates For Solar Leases

February 5th, 2019 | by Kyle Field

Florida residents have a new option for going green with their electricity as the Florida Public Service Commission approved Tesla's SolarLease option today. The ruling came after a long debate over the program to determine if it represented the sale of electricity to consumers, which is not allowed

Why Buying A Tesla Is The Best Thing You Can Do For The Environment

November 18th, 2018 | by Kurt Lowder

Buying a Tesla is the most important thing you can do for the environment because it will help to dramatically lower the cost of batteries, making a 100% renewable grid affordable. Elon Musk recently said (and he is right!), “I think it’s probably fair to say that Tesla (our customers) has advanced sustainable energy by at least five years, conservatively, and maybe closer to 10, and then if we continue to make progress, we might advance it by 20 years. This could be all the difference in the world.”
