Recently, an article about Sandy Munro's most recent interview was posted on CleanTechnica. The article and video are very interesting in quite a few ways. I commented with my thoughts and the replies convinced me to write this article

Get your popcorn and snacks ready! Sandy Munro has another hour-long interview about the ongoing transition to electric vehicles. There is always so much packed into these videos. Munro just has a knack for cutting right to the chase and explaining engineering, manufacturing, and business to the layperson. In the interview, Munro is joined by Mark Ellis, who is a Senior Associate at Munro and Associates

Disclaimer: I have been hesitating whether to write this article for some months now. I am not an engineer. I am an environmental advocate and avid cleantech follower. I had really hoped an engineer would cover this story, but I have not seen an article that covers this aspect of Tesla's technology. (I could have missed it.)

Munro & Associates in Auburn Hills, Michigan, is in the business of taking cars apart. The company’s teardown reports reveal the juicy details of every single component — how they work, where they came from, and how much they cost. Automakers pay sizable sums for these reports, in order to figure out what their competitors are up to. Sandy Munro’s 2018 teardown of a Tesla Model 3 delivered some important insights into the California carmaker’s strengths and weaknesses. What about other electric cars

The weekly Autoline show from the Detroit area recently invited Sandy Munro back to talk about Tesla in China. Munro was once one of Tesla's most ardent skeptics, when he famously compared the Model 3 build quality to a "Kia from the '90s." After spending some more time tearing down the Model 3 and learning more about it, Sandy warmed to the company and had much more complimentary things to say about the company, including calling the Model 3 electronics "Like a Symphony of Engineering."

Sandy Munro and his team at Munro and Associates have been tearing cars down for decades. As legacy gas and diesel powertrains are being replaced by electrified versions and new electric car companies continue to sprout (seemingly every other day), Munro and Associates are putting their experience to work tearing down the latest and greatest electric cars

CleanTechnica's Maarten Vinkhuyzen recently took a deep dive into a UBS report about the Tesla Model 3. The finding was that the report demonstrated tremendous ignorance at best or intentionally misleading nonsense at worst

Munro & Associates is a competitive benchmarking company that tears things apart to see how they are made. CEO Sandy Munro says the build quality of the Tesla Model 3 is equivalent to Kias from the 1990's. Ouch!
