Although the electric BMW i3 seems to have the best maintenance schedule, Britain’s most affordable electric vehicle is the Citroen C-Zero, according to automotive data specialist HPI.
The French plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) passenger car market ushered in 3,099 registrations in May, up just 4% year over year (YoY). Fully electric models (BEVs) grew slightly faster than plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) — BEVs +5%, PHEVs +2% — which is something that hadn’t been happening in recent months.
It was with a mixture of anxiety, and excitement, that I realised, about three years ago, that used EVs, were now available to buy, at an affordable price, and, which would serve my purposes. At the time, I was not totally sure that an EV would really suit me, and be practical, so, I was reticent to spend much money in buying one.
The French plug-in electric passenger car market scored 2,833 registrations in April, up 34% year over year (YoY), with plug-in hybrids continuing to grow faster than all-electrics (PHEVs +46%, BEVs +28%). Altogether, that pulled the market up by 20% in 2018, to 13,725 plug-in car registrations in the first trimester of the year.
France registered a record 5,402 plug-in cars in March, up 41% year over year (YoY). With all plug-in drivetrains working together (fully electric cars +40%, plug-in hybrids +45%), the plug-in market was pulled up to 10,892 units in 2018, up 17% YoY.
The French EV passenger car market saw some 3,100 registrations in February, up 12% year over year (YoY). However, the growth comes only from PHEVs (+115%), as BEVs (-14%) continue to sit in the red (-28% this year). Are buyers holding out for the new LEAF, the Tesla Model 3, and a new Zoe?
