Why exactly would it be beneficial to the climate for Morocco to take renewable electricity, make hydrogen and products from hydrogen, and ship them to Europe at significant loss of energy so that the EU can achieve climate emissions reductions?
Assuming that hydrogen is going to be anywhere as cheap per unit of energy as natural gas, coal, or petroleum fuel products is deeply naive, even before distribution and storage costs.
If Europe continues down the path of making hydrogen a mainstay of heat and transportation, they will invest in highly inefficient and ineffective infrastructure, substantially delay actual climate action, and pressure Morocco, Algeria, and Egypt to waste time and money that could be better spent.
All of the projects proposing to manufacture hydrogen where sunshine and wind are constant and cheap and ship it to where energy is consumed are clearly based on hand-waving, ignorance, sheer #hopium or outright larceny.
