Every year it seems that California has these insane wildfires that are making people and animals homeless. This year is no different, except it seems worse. Every day, there seems to have been a new fire reported. CNN just reported that 26,000 people have been evacuated due to the Easy Fire. This wildfire has burned at least 1,300 acres and could jump Highway 23. Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayoub told CNN at a news conference that there were intense firefighting conditions. They actually had to ground fixed-wing aircraft because of the high winds, with gusts up to 65 miles an hour. For those who are unaware, that’s almost the wind speed of a Category 1 hurricane.
Today in Los Angeles, Volvo took the wraps off its new fully electric Volvo XC40 Recharge, supported by a plan for the company to rapidly convert its vehicles and company operations to low emissions. The XC40 leads the charge for the company, but is only one prong in the larger Volvo effort.
National Drive Electric Week is starting. This annual event has been going on for nearly a decade to raise awareness around electric vehicles (EVs). It’s organized by Plug In America, the Sierra Club, and the Electric Auto Association, but the core of the work is in the grassroots around the United States and even now the world.
The CERO One e-bike is the brainchild of co-founder and CEO of CERO Bikes Kiyoshi Iwai. After yet another day of crawling through Los Angeles traffic, Kiyoshi was at his wits’ end. He envisioned a Los Angeles where people moved around the sunny city on bicycles. Where smog was replaced with fresh air and hours spent in a car were exchanged for more time with family exploring the city.
