As I’ve noted a few times this week, I’ve been digging through our archives (it’s a long story) in recent weeks. I’ve found a handful of fun and perhaps enlightening gems in the process. Below is a story about the first Tesla hearse (funeral car), which was very popular when I published it in February 2018. If you missed it then or just want to check out this unique Tesla again, scroll down and enjoy the show.
We reported in recent months on a gigantic 28 stall Tesla Supercharger at a hotel in the Netherlands. Here’s an update, including pictures of various phases of development.
Amsterdam has one of the world’s best EV charging infrastructures.
The Netherlands-based plug-in electric vehicle fast-charging firm Fastned has reported a first quarter (2018) growth of around 140% (year on year), according to an email sent to CleanTechnica.
Syracuse Airport got a bit of support from Tesla fans recently when it was spotted that a rendering of a passenger pickup/dropoff area included two Tesla cars (a Model S and a Model 3). Looking at the entire rendering, that gave Tesla a 13% share of the 4-wheeled human movers.
As you may have seen, I was in Amsterdam last month for the 2018 rEVolution conference organized by EVBox. I both love and hate going to Amsterdam — it is electric vehicle (EV) heaven and bicycle heaven, which makes it perhaps the #1 large city in the world for clean transportation. Why would that make me hate going there? Because I don’t live there!
Fastned is still the only EV charging network I know of that includes CHAdeMO, CCS, and Tesla (via adapter) charging options at all of its stations. This may seem unimportant, since Tesla has its own Supercharger network, but as Fastned co-founder Bart Lubbers pointed out in a recent interview with me, approximately half of the electric cars in the Netherlands are Teslas. As such, even with other options, many of Fastned’s customers are Tesla drivers.
Not that long ago, the world’s first Tesla hearse popped onto the scene. Tesla hearse? Yes, someone had the brilliant idea to turn a Tesla into a funeral car. I wanted to capture the car in person and talk more to the company and driver behind it, so I took a trip to Den Haag (The Hague) for a visit. Well, actually, I was in Holland for rEVolution 2017 and a great cleantech leader (CleanTechnica reader and now friend) from the Netherlands lined up the visit. Of course, I was certainly thrilled with the idea.
