The Tesla Owners Club of East Bay is doing more than just organizing Tesla-related events. It is focusing on adding philanthropic values into each of its events in order to help its local community.

I have several acquaintances who are concerned about our present administration and Trump’s anti-environmental actions (now he’s just turned back the protection of streams and waterways, giving industry carte blanche to pollute even more). Several of those same individuals just bought new gas cars in the last year. That’s the problem! It’s not the climate deniers, however naive they may be — it’s the people who understand the danger at our door and think it’s someone else’s responsibility to fix.
A lot of the OEMs have not expressed any interest in bringing EVs to the rest of Africa anytime soon. With the majority of them struggling to meet demand in their home and traditional markets, it doesn’t look like Africa will be a priority anytime soon.
Research at Monash University in Australia led to the development of a very high-performance and energy efficient lithium-sulfur battery. Dr. Mahdokht Shaibani, a Research Fellow in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at Monash University, who also held a leadership role on the project, answered some questions about the work for CleanTechnica.
Sean Ryan, of the New York State Assembly, says that he is “pleasantly surprised” at Tesla’s progress at its factory in Buffalo. He toured it on Friday. “The factory is built out. The battery storage market in South Africa is expected to grow significantly going forward as companies and homes look to cushion themselves from ongoing electricity blackouts. Eskom, the stated-owned utility company, has been battling to keep the lights on during peak demand hours. Electricity blackouts are expected for at least another 18 months according to some reports.

With Tesla’s aggressive global goals to expand auto production an order of magnitude within 5 years, I added to the discussion that Giga Mexico might be worth considering, since they need to start thinking about markets beyond the US, Europe, and Asia.
