As you may have noticed, one of my favorite events of 2017 was the first annual rEVolution conference from EVBox. That’s where it was unexpectedly announced that Engie was acquiring EVBox, and there were also fun presentations from a host of electric vehicle leaders (including — shockeryours truly).

The 2nd annual rEVolution conference is coming up in a couple of months in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I will again be there, but I will be the co-MC this time, along with Monica Araya. Some of the top presenters who will be illuminating the audience in March 2018 are Tony Seba (who I think needs no introduction since it seems everyone has seen at least one of his presentations); William Li, founder and chairman of hot Chinese EV startup NIO (previously called NextEV); Colin McKerracher, Head of Advanced Transport at Bloomberg New Energy Finance; and Kristof Vereenooghe, CEO of EVBox.

Hundreds of EV professionals are expected at the conference, so the appeal is certainly not just watching, shaking hands with, and having a short chat with the headliners — it’s often the impromptu, unexpected, serendipitous side meetings that are the highlight of the show. That said, I have to admit I’m a bit giddy to be in the front row for presentations from Tony, Colin, William, and Kristof.

The theme of the event is fun as well: [F = m · a]

As EVBox explains it:

Over the last decade drivers, OEMs and governments have slowly started to see electric driving is our future. Legislation, R&D and EV incentives have been rolled out internationally to realize these ambitions. However climate change and rising sea levels do not wait for us to act. We think it is safe to say we have no time to lose. We believe acceleration can be a matter of looking at things differently. And sometimes, the new perspective has been all around you for a while. You just need someone to point it out.

It was Isaac Newton who said that acceleration (a) is influenced by both force (F) and mass (m). rEVolution aims for a shared belief, strong inspiration and thinking force (F) to overcome obstacles and skepticism (mass) of our cause to accelerate (a) towards a zero emission future.

The power to accelerate
