As you may have noticed, one of my favorite events of 2017 was the first annual rEVolution conference from EVBox. That’s where it was announced that Engie was acquiring EVBox, and there were also presentations from a host of electric vehicle leaders (including — shocker — yours truly).
In approximately 9 days, Monica Araya and I, co-hosts of the coming rEVolution 2018 conference in Amsterdam, will interview EVBox CEO Kristof Vereenooghe for CleanTechnica’s next #Electrifying webinar series. Yep, that’s right — we’re going to tag team that Chiefer*.
As you probably saw, I was one of the keynote speakers at EV-Box’s inaugural rEVolution summit. I noticed ahead of time that the inspiring Engie exec Thierry Lepercq was going to be one of the other speakers, but I did not anticipate the huge news that was to come. At the very end of the summit, EV-Box CEO Kristof Vereenooghe slow-walked us through the announcement, somewhat teasing the audience as he unveiled that EV-Box had just become a part of Engie.
EVBox, the leading global manufacturer of electric vehicle charging stations and charging management software, has announced its plans for a North American headquarters and production facility, which will be located at Innovation Park in Libertyville, Illinois.

More than 3.5 million new chargers are set to electrify the world, installed by 2025.
EVBox recently announced the acquisition of the French ultra-fast and fast EV charger manufacturer EVTronic. With the acquisition, EVBox added 700 of the EVTronic fast-charging stations to its European network. EVBox currently has about 60,000 charging stations worldwide, the largest network globally.
Chances are that today’s children will never experience driving a car that runs on fossil fuels. To prepare them, students from two Dutch primary schools are already learning on the playground how to charge their future electric cars.
Enthusiasm for the fully electric future of mobility was one of the core elements of the rEVolution conference in Amsterdam on March 13. More than this: It was sort of like a little Woodstock for e-mobility. Yeaaaah! Great music, thundering sound, and the two hosts, Monica Araya and CleanTechnica Director Zachary Shahan, entering the stage like pop stars for their picturesque welcome.
I’ll be in Amsterdam again next week for the rEVolution conference. We had a fun CleanTechnica meetup last year on the night before the conference (which is actually how we ended up with Maarten as a superb CleanTechnica contributor). This year, the plan is to have a CleanTechnica meetup on March 13 again.
