Tesla has long been seen as a rebel of the auto world, but it’s becoming a bit mainstream, no? I’m inspired to do a long piece on this … but not yet. But it just struck me rather starkly as I shockingly saw that no Tesla story was among the top 3 stories of the past week on CleanTechnica … or even the top 5! Or even the top 10!
Elon Musk dashed off a tweet on January 6 (or super early January 7) that promised some exciting new features at a Supercharger location in Los Angeles. The Musk Man hinted that an old-fashioned drive-in restaurant complete with wait staff on roller skates may be in the offing. No mention of poodle skirts, however.
As just noted in the first part of this two-part series, we decided to take a look at the most fuel efficient (i.e., gas efficient) cars on the market in the US (that article) and then take a look at the most energy efficient cars in the USA (this article). There are both similarities and differences that stood out after doing so, but there’s basically one key take-home point. We also came away with some automotive suggestions for buyers with different needs. Without further to do, let’s jump in.

With the intent being to educate those in the USA who are now in the market for an all-electric vehicle, I’m going to provide an overview here of the widely available and mass produced options out there. In 2012, Norway set a goal for transportation-related emissions. It decided that 85 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer would be the official target for the year 2020. The latest figures as reported by Norwegian news channel NA 24 show that goal was achieved and even exceeded in 2017, 3 years ahead of schedule.
The European passenger plug-in vehicle market had its best not-last-month-of-quarter record in November, with over 29,000 vehicles delivered to happy customers. This is the 7th time in the last 8 months that we saw +50% growth rates.
