I’ve written a lot of articles about how great and affordable the Tesla Model 3 is, and I truly believe it has the potential to become one of the best selling cars of all time. Does that mean it is the right car for everyone? No — although it must be enjoyable for everyone to drive (or not drive, once the full-self-driving software is available), it just isn’t the right car for everyone.
Jade Insko was driving his Tesla Model 3 in Washington state when a 37-pound rock fell from above and struck his windshield. It plunged through the shattered and damaged glass and fell into the passenger seat. Fortunately, it did not hit Insko, but tiny pieces of glass did enter his eyes and lungs. One of the benefits of being an early adopter (or first follower) of clean energy solutions is the incentives available to help lessen our dependence on fossil fuels. Many national, state, and local governments offer some forms of incentives for consumers to make the switch from fossil fuels to electricity; to upgrade from gasoline or diesel vehicles to electric vehicles (EVs). In some locations, you can even get some financial help when you install an EV charging station at your home or business.
Earlier today, I highlighted the Tesla Model 3’s solid sales launch compared to the iconic Ford Mustang, which the Model 3 is outselling by ~1.5× this year so far. According to our October sales estimates and official numbers from automakers, the Tesla Model 3 was the 12th best selling car in the United States from January through October of this year (SUVs and pickup trucks excluded). It was approximately 9,000 sales behind the #11 Ford Focus and 21,000 behind our estimate for the #10 Chevy Malibu.
