For a few years now, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has been briefly, occasionally, and somewhat mysteriously mentioning a potential low-cost Tesla vehicle that would have a starting price significantly below the starting price of the Tesla Model 3.
A parliament usually only asks an auto company to show up if something went very wrong. Either a financial bailout is needed or another huge scandal happened, like with the diesel cheating devices that polluted the environment and its citizens for years. Why was Tesla invited by the parliament in Brandenburg to provide a presentation at the end of August?
As the end of August approaches, let’s check in again on the construction progress at Tesla’s Berlin Gigafactory. Guess what? There’s yet another roof going up, this time on the body-in-white building.

The company is on a hiring spree that could boost the number of its employees to about 65,000 by the end of this year, which would represent a 35% increase from the reported headcount at the end of 2019. “We are hiring a lot of people,” Musk recently said.
Construction is progressing at a rapid clip at Tesla Gigafactory Berlin, with a roof and walls now going up on a second structure — the drive unit building.
I’m thinking that it’s about time to regularly monitor the construction progress at Tesla’s Berlin Gigafactory, and to leverage the competitive spirit of the German psyche. We saw incredible construction speed at Gigafactory Shanghai (Giga Shanghai) once the structural build got going in spring 2019.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk moments ago tweeted out a sunny, light rendering of Tesla Giga Berlin, the gigafactory in Germany currently under construction. The tweet was followed by numerous questions from Tesla fans, with Musk answering several of them.
