Those in the auto industry are well acquainted with the concept of “bait and switch.” This is where a retailer runs an appealing ad for a car or other good at a great price, but when you drive to the retailer to get the great deal, you find out that good isn’t available and the salesperson then tries to sell you a higher priced good.

Tesla has issued a statement saying it will temporarily close its factories in Fremont and Buffalo due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Everyone seems to be mad at Tesla for staying open while several other businesses shut down to try to flatten the curve and prevent the coronavirus from spreading like a wildfire of the molecular variety. But did you know that Tesla isn’t the only automaker that’s been open for business?
Tesla takes raw sheets of rolled aluminum and turns them, along with hundreds of other parts, into finished vehicles at its factory in Fremont, California, in less than 48 hours.

This information is going to cause some controversy, because everything we knew, or thought we knew, about Tesla’s Model Y timeline is about to change. Originally, the Model Y was supposed to start shipping in “late 2020.” Currently, Tesla’s website says new orders will ship in Q1 2021. However, according to an anonymous source with a proven and reliable track record, Tesla is about to accelerate its plans and start production sometime around Q1 2020 at its Fremont factory. (We’ve also received the same information independently through a second-hand source.)
