This report ranks US states according to the percentage of their electricity that comes from solar.
After digging into an old spreadsheet to create a new report on top solar power states per capita, it crossed my mind to compare the results from the first half of 2020 with the results from 2012, which is the last time I had published such a report before today.

Pennsylvania House legislators are considering a bill that would speed up the rate at which utilities are required to add solar power capacity to their distribution systems in an effort to avoid a “boom, bust, boom cycle” following a surge in solar energy systems demand that has already seen installed solar PV capacity grow to more than 3x the state’s 2020 target.
Recently, I wrote about how the incredible success of the New Jersey solar and Pennsylvania solar markets was beginning to have adverse consequences with respect to each state’s primary solar incentive, the Solar Renewable Energy Credit (SREC). Two months later, the trend is continuing to get worse but solar advocates in both states are beginning to get a grip on the problem and are putting the downturn in proper market context.
