Wroclaw, Poland, where I live some of the time, launched an electric carsharing system last year. It is populated by Nissan LEAFs, Nissan ee-NV200s, and electric scooters.
I toured Masdar City for the first time this week. It is difficult to not be overwhelmed with the vision and execution taking place there. If you are new to cleantech news, make sure you go to the Masdar City website and check out its amazing architecture, admire its focus on residents instead of cars, and share with others its ambitious energy efficiency targets (which, by the way, Masdar* often exceeds).
The Autonomy conference in Paris is special in that it features diverse panels of experts focused on everything from electric cars to electric scooters and bikes to electric aviation to city planning. A group discussion moderated by CleanTechnica Director Zachary Shahan considered how cities and governments around the world could promote, support, and protect two-wheelers in the city.
Over one hundred EVs are being deployed in a carsharing initiative brought to Sacramento by Envoy and Electrify America. 142 Volkswagen e-Golf electric cars will be available in the Sacramento area by early 2019 at 71 locations. The first of the EVs are located near the Whispering Pines Apartments in Meadowview. They can be rented by the minute, hour, or day. Envoy’s co-founders, Aric Ohana and Ori Sagie, answered some questions about the program for CleanTechnica.
Ben Pullen, the managing director of Global EVRT, led a rousing day of informative e-mobility talks for the first ever e-mobility session at Intersolar Middle East last year. It culminated in questions from the audience. This question & answer session followed presentations on the accelerating transition to electric vehicles, the power of inflection points, sustainable cities, and more.
Local leadership is having a global impact on the fight to stop climate change and transition to 100 percent clean and renewable energy.
Funds from Electrify America will help bring zero emission urban mobility to the city of Sacramento through two electric carsharing programs with a total of 400 electric cars available for rent on city streets by this time next year.
There seems to be some kind of attachment I feel towards Shenzhen as I have already used it as benchmark (high one!) for some Polish activities related to e-mobility. Yet again, let me use it to praise one of my favourite cities — that is Wrocław in Poland.
A local news report in the Polish city where I’ve been living for nearly 10 years highlights that our relatively fresh electric carsharing program — Vozilla — has passed 30,000 users. Before moving to Florida a month ago, I was seeing the cars — mostly Nissan LEAFs — everywhere I went.
