If the short historic sales of the Model 3 in Denmark is any indication, we could be looking at a growth of 50% in electric vehicle sales every year for the foreseeable future, which would result in half of all vehicles sold in the country being electric in 6 to 7 years. That’s approaching 100% electric vehicles sales by 2030. There’s no room for linear thinking in the present electric revolution.
A few days ago, I wrote an article about the top 5 countries in terms of plugin vehicle market share. In response to that article, one reader, “No way” (I have a feeling that’s not his/her real name), requested a graph and article on countries aspiring to 10% plugin vehicle market share.
Even though Denmark is a very small market, it is still interesting to see how sales of the currently available models develop.
The 2019 trend that led to record sales of plug-in vehicles is most certainly not going away any time soon: Denmark is jumping on the electric wagon, for real this time.

Denmark slashed its electric car incentive program last year, only to see EV sales plunge. Now it is considering reinstating some of those incentives later this year.
While Norway can be the proud of record-breaking 21% all-electric new car sales, Denmark is falling shamefully behind. One political blunder after the other has killed the EV market in the country, like the recent lowering of taxes on fossil fuel cars.
