Researchers at Columbia have developed a new exterior coating that goes on like paint and can cool the surface of buildings by up to 6 degrees Celsius even in direct sunshine. Lower temperatures outside mean less energy needed to cool the inside.
A report from the University of Birmingham suggests there will be so many cooling devices in the world by 2050 that it will take all the world’s available renewable energy to power them all.
Here’s the bad news: The world is not on track to meet four of the United Nations Global Goals by 2030 – including Goal 13 on climate action. The good news? There are plenty of (profitable) opportunities for businesses to help fix that and tackle climate change.
