We reached out to Tesla about the issue and the company shared that U.S. Model 3 owners will have access to a similar CHAdeMO adapter “soon” to allow customers to have access to “all compelling networks” in the US.
Electrify America fixed the mapping issues we previously covered, and it has announced pricing plans that will address some of the issues I wrote about previously. With these changes, Electrify America is making big improvements that will help its important contribution to EV adoption in the United States.
This is the story of a 1200 mile journey taken in what’s basically the wrong car for the job. I decided to test the 2018 LEAF to the limits, in several different ways. Recent and upcoming EVs are designed for DC fast charging speeds of 100 kW and more, and are overwhelmingly favouring CCS as the standard charging architecture. Next-generation charging networks in Europe and the US are also favouring CCS. Despite its early lead, CHAdeMO now looks to be falling behind.
