BYD and Toyota announced this morning that the two industry powerhouses have entered into an agreement that will see them partnering on the development of electric vehicle batteries.
BYD and Changan Automobile have spun up a joint venture to manufacture and sell electric vehicle batteries. This joint venture is based in the sprawling metropolis of Chongqing, China.
BYD took to the stage at its Dream Gala where BYD leadership outlined the bold company vision to lead China and the world into an era of zero-emission vehicles powered by renewable energy.
Following on the heels of a deal for 500 electric refuse trucks in Shenzhen a few days ago, BYD announced another deal for an impressive 200 electric refuse trucks in Indaiatuba, Brazil.

BYD’s core competency is batteries, which blossomed as a result of founder, CEO, and Chairman Wang Chuanfu’s technical mastery and eye towards the future. He led BYD into cell phone batteries when cell phones made their entrance into the market (in the ’90s!) and then into laptop battery supply as businesses shifted from desktop computing to portable computing solutions.
BYD announced that the first commercial application of its SkyRail monorail mass transit solution opened for operation in Yinchuan, China, on September 1, 2017. The SkyRail system in Yinchuan is the first monorail solution installed in China that uses a straddle design where the vehicle sits on top of the monorail, hanging over both sides.
