Electric Vehicle Models That EV Owners In Europe Considered But Didn’t Buy

March 29th, 2020 | by Zachary Shahan

Perhaps the most fascinating new question in this year's Electric Car Drivers: Demands, Desires & Dreams reports concerned the electric vehicles people considered but didn’t buy. We asked EV owners which other electric vehicle models they thought about buying before deciding on the one they purchased or leased. I was surprised to see how much people actually cross-shopped across classes while considering which electric vehicle to buy

The European Car Of The Year Election Was An Embarrassment

March 21st, 2020 | by Maarten Vinkhuyzen

The European Car of the Year is not the “Best Buy” advice of a consumer organization. It does not put a sticker on Product X in category Y in price class Z. It does not help customers to choose between the myriad offerings on the market by positioning something as the cheapest, coolest, easiest, safest, healthiest, or greenest product they can buy

Tesla Model Y = Most Likely Next EV Of EV Owners In Netherlands & Norway — CleanTechnica Report

March 15th, 2020 | by Zachary Shahan

Probably the most interesting question we asked in these surveys was one of the simplest: “What do you think your next EV model will be?” It is particularly interesting because it gives us a strong sense of where the market is headed, and combined with answers to some other questions (see the next chapter), it also tells us a bit about which features and specs matter the most to EV buyers

The Big Brussels Car Market, aka Auto Show

February 16th, 2020 | by Maarten Vinkhuyzen

When visiting the leading car shows in Geneva, Paris, and Frankfurt, the carmakers will take you on a journey, showing their grand visions about future mobility with vehicles that merge into houses, are lounges on wheels, or are just crazy, impractical futuristic works of art

Opel Ampera-e (Opel Who?!?) Wins January In The Netherlands — EV Sales Report

February 13th, 2020 | by Jose Pontes

With a sales rush in the last days of 2019, one would imagine January would bring a big hangover for the plug-in vehicle market. But turns out, it hasn't. Yes, the Dutch plug-in market was down 2% year over year (YoY), to 3,184 registrations, but because the overall market fell even more (-6% YoY), the plug-in vehicle (PEV) share (7.2%, 4.3% for fully electric vehicles alone) actually grew compared to 12 months ago (6.9% in January 2019). So ... why is this happening

January 19th, 2020 | by Zachary Shahan

The Netherlands got most of the press from EV fans in recent weeks and months thanks to a stunning 54% plug-in vehicle (PEV) market share at the end of 2019 and the Tesla Model 3 bagging approximately twice as many 2019 sales as the #2 Volkswagen Polo

Plug-In Vehicles = 5.5% of Switzerland’s Auto Sales

January 19th, 2020 | by Zachary Shahan

Far and away, the Swiss plug-in vehicle (PEV) leader was the Model 3, which had 29% of PEV market share. That means it had ~1.6% of the overall auto market in Switzerland all by itself, and it put the Model 3 at #4 in the overall auto market in the country, only trailing the Skoda Octavia, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Volkswagen Golf
