ICE Sales Melting!

In response to our latest thorough report on global EV sales, one of our readers, trackdaze, added a bit of useful data and analysis.

Instead of just looking at electric vehicle sales (which is what the world EV sales reports cover), trackdaze figured out (based on our data) how much internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle sales declined. He did this using our June 2024 data and our June 2025 data.

In the end, pure ICE vehicle sales totaled 4.68 million units in June 2025, and that was down from 5.16 million units in June 2024. (The world went from 22% plugin vehicle market share to 28% plugin vehicle market share in that time.) That’s a decline of nearly half a million (0.48 million) purely fossil-fueled vehicle sales year over year.

Thanks to trackdaze for crunching those numbers and sharing them with the community!

Oh, yes, he also wrote “ICE sales Melting!” That was too good, and hence the title.
