A Conversation on the Latest and Greatest on Vanadium Batteries (Video)

And the audience goes wild! Last week CleanTechnica’s CEO Zachary Shahan hosted StorEn Technologies’ CEO John Davis for a live conversation about vanadium batteries and our audience was into it! We love seeing folks get excited about clean technology because, obviously, we do, too.

Here’s the recorded conversation with John Davis: https://youtu.be/FyAgcVg-T0M

Clean technology advances quickly, so sometimes it’s tough to keep up. We like to keep our finger on the pulse of technologies like vanadium flow batteries, as we know their uses and advances are evolving quickly. In the discussion last week Zachary and John chatted about why vanadium flow batteries are different from other energy storage systems and how flow batteries are used in real-life applications. We also heard about StorEn Tech’s pre-purchase program for residential battery systems (yes, it’s happening!). John shared StorEn’s experience with raising capital through crowdfunding and about their larger microgrid systems. Over 8,000 investors believe that StorEn is the future of energy storage – wow!

The conversation was a riveting one with lots of audience participation. When asked about what do vanadium batteries do better than anything else, John responded that they “can scale to very long amounts of discharge cycling…and another thing is you can use them every single day without any concern of degradation of performance.” It was great to learn more about the ins and outs of vanadium flow batteries and why we should keep up with their progress. Check out the video below!

Thanks to everyone who joined us live last week and for all of the insightful questions we received from the audience. If you missed the conversation, you can take a listen below. I don't like paywalls. You don't like paywalls. Who likes paywalls? Here at CleanTechnica, we implemented a limited paywall for a while, but it always felt wrong — and it was always tough to decide what we should put behind there. In theory, your most exclusive and best content goes behind a paywall. But then fewer people read it! We just don't like paywalls, and so we've decided to ditch ours. Unfortunately, the media business is still a tough, cut-throat business with tiny margins. It's a never-ending Olympic challenge to stay above water or even perhaps — gasp — grow. So ...
