Following the PACE! strategic plan, Vauxhall has made some strategic and organizational changes which have resulted in cost cutting and profit growth. In a public statement, Vauxhall/Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller said the company made €502 million in profits in the first half of 2018. Increased competitiveness and vehicle electrification are two other aspects of the PACE! plan — the latter will help achieve CO2 targets. Vauxhall’s Communications Director, Jeremy Townsend, answered some questions about the plan for CleanTechnica.

How many all-electric vehicles and models will you be manufacturing in the next several years?

Vauxhall will have launched four electrified vehicles by 2020: a fully-electric all-new Corsa, a fully-electric all-new Mokka X, a plug-in hybrid Grandland X SUV, and a fully-electric Vivaro van.

In the next ten years, how many full electric vehicles and models will you be manufacturing?

By 2024, there will be an electric version of every Vauxhall model on sale.

Where do your source your hybrid and EV batteries?

We will announce this information at the unveil of the electric Corsa next year.

How do you gauge public interest and demand when it comes to hybrids and full EVs?

Along with all manufacturers, we have a target to achieve in 2020 for vehicle emissions. This can only be achieved with a mix of electric, plug-in hybrid, petrol and diesel models on sale. Fiscal incentives will encourage take-up of electrified models

How much employee training is involved when you add an EV to your vehicle lineup?

Significant training is required for our own staff and those of our retailer network. This has already started in advance of the launch next year of the electric Corsa and plug-in hybrid Grandland X.

Are your vehicles primarily sold in the UK, or are there also sales in Europe and Asia?

Vauxhall is currently only sold in the UK. Our sister brand Opel operates in other markets.
