model3_quarter_mod2As of today, those in New Zealand interested in getting a Tesla can do so far more easily than yesterday or any day before — the company has officially launched in the New Zealand market, meaning that it’s now as simple as going to the online design studio and deciding on what you want.

In an email sent to CleanTechnica and EV Obsession, a company representative noted that the first Model S and Model X orders should be arriving in the country by Q2 2017. So, there shouldn’t be too much of a wait for those who order now — no doubt a far simpler affair than shipping one yourself from Australia.

The announcement follows earlier statements that the company would be launching in New Zealand in anticipation of the launch of the Model 3. Tesla is also expected to launch services in India, South Korea, and elsewhere before (or around when) the Model 3 is launched in late 2017.

The rapid launch in New Zealand was apparently the result of the number of Model 3 reservations placed in the country to date, according to the email. However, the number of people who have personally imported Model S sedans and Model X SUVs into the country was also notable enough to catch Tesla’s eye.

The email notes: “Tesla has confirmed Auckland as its first location for a Tesla Store and Service Center, along with a route for Superchargers from Auckland to Wellington, set to open in 2017. These developments will address the growing demand for Tesla vehicles across the New Zealand market.”

Good news. As an informal census, how many of those reading this will be making use of the Auckland location and Service Center? And do we have any New Zealanders here who have placed a Model 3 reservation?
