Tesla Model S P100D

As expected, the new Tesla “Easter Egg” teased last week by CEO Elon Musk will boost the performance of the company’s cars notably — purely through software optimization delivered by an over-the-air update.

The performance boost will reportedly give the Tesla Model S P100D (in “Ludicrous Mode”) a 0–60 mph time of just 2.4 seconds, and a 1/4 mile time of just 10.6 seconds.

In other words, the performance boost will mean that Tesla is now right at the top of the production vehicle field when it comes to acceleration time — there won’t be any other production vehicles out there with a faster acceleration time.

Here’s a tweet on the matter from the Tesla CEO:

As far as what the performance boost will do for the Model X P100D, here’s this tweet:

And as clarification, this tweet notes that the performance boost relates to all P100D vehicles produced to date:

So, if you’ve ordered or already are in possession of a Model S P100D or a Model X P100D, this applies to you. Congratulations, Model S P100D owners — you now have the quickest production vehicle in the world.
