Ah, Sir Elon — he can’t stop having fun.
One of those quirky things about Tesla cars that many of us love are the Easter eggs the clever Tesla team embeds into the software. Previous Easter eggs have included turning your Model S into the James Bond Lotus Esprit that Elon bought at an auction for $1 million, shooting into Ludicrous mode like in Spaceballs, and unlocking the secret of life, among other things.
However, with a new Easter egg Elon just tweeted about, the P100D (presumably on the Model S and the Model X) will seemingly get a genuine performance boost — not just a bit of fun on the supersized infotainment screen — unless Elon is just pulling legs again (quite possible).
As you can see in the first tweet below (presuming it loads for you), he noted out of the blue, “Forgot to mention there will be a P100D Ludicrous Easter egg soon that uncorks the full performance.”

Those of us who obsessively follow Elon on Twitter or who just happened to be checking in at the moment soon discovered that the Easter egg seems connected to the wonderful movie Princess Bride. Elon references a classic scene in the film (which you should really watch if you haven’t) with this tantalizing line:
it is not actually left-handed

What the Easter egg is actually going to do is still an open question, but if it makes the P100D any quicker to 60 mph, I’m going to start questioning if Elon is a real live human boy or some kind of engineering and physics wizard.
I don't like paywalls. You don't like paywalls. Who likes paywalls? Here at CleanTechnica, we implemented a limited paywall for a while, but it always felt wrong — and it was always tough to decide what we should put behind there. In theory, your most exclusive and best content goes behind a paywall. But then fewer people read it! We just don't like paywalls, and so we've decided to ditch ours. Unfortunately, the media business is still a tough, cut-throat business with tiny margins. It's a never-ending Olympic challenge to stay above water or even perhaps — gasp — grow. So ...
