CODA Energy Brings First Chief Commercial Officer Onboard
California-based CODA Energy has appointed Marc Roper to be the company’s first Chief Commercial Officer. CODA is experiencing enough growth that it needs assistance in its expansion, and Mr. Roper has over 20 years of experience in the clean energy markets.
“CODA Energy is elated to welcome Marc to its leadership team. Marc’s unique experience in the clean tech space and strong track record in managing and growing market share for new energy technologies combined with his success in scaling sales organizations, will undoubtedly enhance and strengthen CODA’s leadership in the energy storage sector. Additionally, at a time when energy storage, clean tech and government policy are so intrinsically intertwined, Marc’s unique mix of both governmental and private sector experience provide us with a powerful tool to advocate for our customers and our industry,” explained Paul Detering, CEO of CODA Energy. It was just in March of 2015 that CODA named Mr. Detering as its CEO. (He answered some questions for an interview on CleanTechnica not long ago.)
When Roper was at Tioga Energy, he was also in a leadership position, and was quite successful in guiding the development of over 100 solar PPA projects in a variety of locations throughout the United States.
CODA makes commercial and industrial energy storage solutions that are scalable and UL listed. The company has a fascinating history — it started out as an electric car manufacturer — but launching a new electric car brand is very difficult if you aren’t Tesla. Despite having created a solid sedan about the size of a Honda Civic and with more range than a Nissan Leaf, the CODA electric vehicles did not take off and the company pivoted to focus on energy storage solutions in June 2013. With this new mission, CODA Energy has been much more successful and currently has over 40 employees.
