Colorado to be Home to GE Thin-Film Solar Plant, Largest in the US

Folks out in Denver, Colorado applauded an announcement Thursday night from Gov. John Hickenlooper that GE had chosen Colorado, more specifically the Denver suburb of Aurora, as the site for a new thin-film solar manufacturing plant. GE anticipates investing as much as $600 million in the plant, which is expected to employ 400 workers involved in manufacturing as much as 400-megawatts (MW) worth of thin-film solar panels, enough to power 80,000 homes a year.


Treasury 1603 Grant Extension Key to Sustaining Renewable Energy & Green Jobs Growth

Reports from the clean energy industry show China has surpassed the U.S. in market share and pricing for PV solar panels and wind turbines, while offering comparable quality and reliability. The consequence of this recent Chinese dominance has caused the demise of companies like Solyndra and Evergreen, the most visible examples of bankruptcies in the pipeline for U. S. manufacturers. And these sales difficulties have occurred despite federal tax incentives and rebates from many utilities still being in place, such as NVEnergy's (Nevada) Solar, Wind & Hydro Generations programs
