Zayed Future Energy Prize

2018 Zayed Future Energy Prize (Cleantech Oscars) Finalists — Vote Now!

The 2018 Zayed Future Energy Prize awards ceremony is tomorrow, January 15. I’m here in Abu Dhabi for the awards since I was on the Review Committee and will be moderating a panel discussion between some of this year’s and previous years’ winners later in the week. I will also be covering the awards ceremony, of course, covering the World Future Energy Summit, and presenting and moderating panels at The Mobility Conference. As we’ve done in previous years, I thought it would be fun to run a poll among our readers about who you think will win Zayed Future Energy Prize awards in this 10th edition of the prize.

82 Cleantech Leaders Down To 40 — Inspiration Off The Charts

I thought the Zayed Future Energy Prize was cool when I first attended one of its awards ceremonies during the annual World Future Energy Summit and Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. I thought it was cooler after working with the Zayed Future Energy Prize (ZFEP) crew loosely for a couple of years to highlight prize winners and finalists. This year, I was added to the ZFEP Review Committee, which meant that I was in Abu Dhabi last week for a couple of days to help narrow 82 shortlisted candidates down to 40.

sonnen — the utility of the future? (CleanTechnica Interview)

Highly regarded battery storage firm sonnen was one of the big winners of the 2017 Zayed Future Energy Prize, winning in the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) category. I interviewed sonnen CEO and co-founder Christoph Ostermann in January just after the company won the prize. It was a fun interview because of how futuristic sonnen’s vision is and also because of Mr Ostermann’s clear propensity for fun.

Old Coal & Nuclear Costs Don’t Compete With Wind & Solar Costs (+ Interview With…

Years ago, I wrote that many people don’t realize solar energy and wind energy are so cheap because they have a price or talking point stuck in their head from 10 years ago, 5 years ago, or even just 3 years ago. As much as we at CleanTechnica repeat the fact that wind and solar are often the cheapest option for new electricity capacity, people in the general public and even in highly related fields don’t realize that renewable energy costs have fallen so much so fast. They don’t realize that cleaner electricity options are often the cheapest options.
