Is This Metal Destined to Replace Lithium and Transform Everything from the Mining Industry to Long Duration Energy Storage and Much More?
The dream of low cost, high efficiency, long duration and sustainable flow battery energy storage technology could rest on the back of this baby shrimp.
This article was sponsored by StorEnTech. The StorEn Technologies* vanadium flow battery prototype has arrived at Stony Brook University in New York. This battery, featuring StorEn’s proprietary technology will undergo extensive independent validation at the Advanced Energy Research & Technology Center (AERTC) at Stony Brook University. This session follows their internal … [continued]
The idea that batteries have a ‘life’ is familiar. We’ve all experienced a ‘dying’ cell phone battery with its charge draining, usually at the most inconvenient time. But knowing how and why this happens – from cell phones, EV batteries, and batteries for storage, is key. Read more about understanding battery life.
We hosted a webinar with Carlo Brovero, Founder and CEO of StorEn Technologies, a market leader in vanadium flow battery technologies. See the slides and listen to the full webinar here in our recap.
The shift to renewable energy continues, despite uncertainty about the direction of U.S. policy under the current administration. Solar, wind, hydro, and more are key components of our renewables conversation. But it’s equally important to consider the storage solution. StorEn Technologies is in the process of validating its vanadium flow … [continued]
The energy storage market in the United States was up +46% in the third quarter of 2017. This growth represents a strong opportunity for vanadium flow batteries – which may begin to outpace lithium as early as 2018 – to support energy storage and grid modernization.
Vanadium flow batteries are a type of rechargeable battery in which the energy is stored chemically in a liquid electrolyte contained in two tanks, unlike conventional batteries that store their reactive materials within their cells. StorEn Technology is developing a new generation of vanadium flow batteries to meet growing marketing demand for cost-effective energy storage for residential, industrial, or utility needs.
The great state of Tennessee is on the cutting edge of new energy storage tech, thanks partly to its role as the home of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
