Tesla has announced new offerings of $250 million of common stock “and $750 million aggregate principal amount of convertible senior notes due in 2022 in concurrent underwritten registered public offerings,” according to a new press release from the company.
Unplugged Performance recently posted a video of a Tesla Model 3 prototype traveling near the SpaceX Hyperloop track in Hawthorne, California. We figured some of you would like to see it. 🙂 The prototype Unplugged Performance spotted doesn’t appear to be a new one — though, it’s not clear how old it actually is.
Tesla is reportedly in the process of securing real estate in Moscow and St. Petersburg for use as new showrooms and service centers, according to recent reports. Presumably, the company is working to establish a presence in the market before the release of the Model 3. Likely sites for Tesla locations are reportedly the “Atrium” and “Vremena Goda” in Moscow.
The Japanese electric vehicle market is comprised almost entirely of Japanese auto manufacturers (unsurprisingly), which makes the market an interesting contrast to free-for-all markets like the US.
Last week we reported on Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s response (via Twitter) to a young fan who wrote a letter requesting that the company run a fan-made ad contest — after all, there are so many great “Tesla commercials” made by fans, so why not reward some of the people making them?
According to an article on CNBC, UBS analyst Colin Langan predicts that “Tesla will have to invest up to an additional $8 billion in its network of high-speed charging stations in the U.S. alone if it wants to make recharging a car as convenient as filling the gas tank.”
Over the last half year or so, Tesla’s market value has risen substantially, surpassing that of Nissan Motor Company at points (including right now) and putting it within a hand’s reach of the two top American auto firms — GM and Ford.

Tesla has confirmed unofficially that it will only offer the AC version of the Powerwall 2 in most world markets. Availability is said have been pushed back to June of this year.
Thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of a 5th grade student (and the school project that kicked the effort off), it seems that Tesla CEO Elon Musk has decided that the company will be holding a fan-made commercial contest — at the request of the student in a letter emailed to Tesla and tweeted to Elon.
