Tesla’s Full Stack Disruption

January 12th, 2020 | by Cynthia Shahan

Tesla concepts of mobility outgrew legacy brands from the day the first Tesla rolled onto the market. The new company did not fit into any existing auto-manufacturer slot. Tesla jumped away from the crowd conceptually, and as we can see by now, landed on its feet

Like An Angel Is Pushing You From Behind

January 12th, 2020 | by Alex Voigt

As a CEO of a large global automaker, you have a huge problem of existential dimensions. If you don’t solve it, it’s not just your job that’s lost, but you will be remembered as the person who is responsible for a century-long proud legacy ending

Audi USA Sales In 2014–2019 — Hurt Significantly By Tesla Or Not?

January 11th, 2020 | by Zachary Shahan

I recently decided to take a closer look at BMW USA sales over the past 6 years in order to try to examine how much BMW was being hurt by Tesla's popularity in the United States. Part of the reason for doing that is that recent Bloomberg research highlighted BMW as the auto brand most hurt by and most vulnerable to Tesla

BMW USA Sales 2014–2019 — Getting Slammed By Tesla Or Not?

January 11th, 2020 | by Zachary Shahan

For several years, we've considered BMW to be most at risk from Tesla's rise. The BMW brand's trademark "the ultimate driving machine" tagline got stolen away from the German automaker. (Even Edmunds went out and called the Tesla Model 3 the ultimate driving machine.) Want the most advanced driving tech? Coolest cat on the block

Shark Tank’s Barbara Corcoran Loves Her Tesla & Elon Musk’s Roughness

January 10th, 2020 | by Johnna Crider

In a Yahoo Finance video discussion about Tesla and its stock, Barbara Corcoran of Shark Tank cuts right to the chase: "I own a Tesla and don't say anything wrong to me about it." She also points out that she invests in Tesla as well. Her thoughts on Tesla's "slumping after a double downgrade" are that these guys are just "hedging their bets" and that they don't want to be wrong. "It's all nonsense," she says

A New Type Of Tesla Jewelry For Vehicle Access

January 10th, 2020 | by Johnna Crider

I love jewelry. I love creating it and I love wearing it and looking at it. I love seeing the works of other artisans who get creative, but I never expected to be writing about jewelry or the art of making it for CleanTechnica -- as I usually save that for my blog. Nonetheless, this story about a Tesla owner and his wife definitely needs to be shared

The 2 Big Questions Regarding Volkswagen’s Future

January 9th, 2020 | by Zachary Shahan

Volkswagen is launching into what could be a huge electric decade that reinvents and rejuvenates the large global automotive group. Yes, the Volkswagen ID.3 — which is sort of supposed to be the VW Beetle or Golf of this century — has some delays. Reinvention can be tough

Tesla & Robotaxi Economics: The Network That Optimizes The Machine

January 9th, 2020 | by Rahul Sonnad

There is a long-standing argument about whether Tesla is a car company or a tech company. This argument is typically made in the context of how Wall Street should value the company. If Tesla is just a new kind of carmaker, it should be valued at something significantly less than its annual revenue — maybe 25% to 50%, like Ford and GM. Alternatively, if Tesla is a tech company, then it could be valued significantly higher. Google, for example, is trading at about 6 times its revenues today, Facebook at 8, Microsoft at 9, and Salesforce at 10 times. Tesla trades at around 3 times its revenues with some profits, while Uber and Lyft trade around 4 times revenues and have never been profitable

January 8th, 2020 | by Vijay Govindan

Barron's noted on January 7th, 2020, that Tesla had become the most valuable auto company in the history of America. Let me repeat: Not just currently. We are talking about the most valuable American auto company since America was born. Congratulations to Elon, Tesla, and the team for unlocking this achievement!
