Why Automakers Try To Slow & Stifle The EV Revolution

I’ve had a lot of fun recently while highlighting 50 “tips” for slowing the electric car revolution and writing about what the end of gasmobiles could look like, but the discussions left some people scratching their heads. Why would automakers conscientiously try to delay a switch to electric vehicles? Why would they not try to create attractive electric cars once they were shown how popular Tesla’s models have been?

45% of Current Electric Car Drivers Plan to Buy a Tesla Next — #CleanTechnica Report

You’re going to be shocked — the electric car respondents most frequently said they were most likely to buy next (or for the first time in the case of non-EV drivers) was the Tesla Model 3. Over 100,000 reservations ($1,000 each) were placed for the car in under 24 hours — even before the car was shown. The demand was through the roof and ended up being the single biggest product reveal in history by certain key metrics. So, it is not a surprise in the least that this electric car tops the list of “expected next EV model.”

Louis Sarkozy, son of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, asks (via Washington Examiner), “Should he be recognized as a capitalist example, champion of science, and hero of the environment? Yes. Is the media fawning over his countless moral deeds and wishing him success in his progressive endeavors? No. Rather, he is constantly berated, belittled, and criticized for trivial reasons.”

Tesla Summit: Starman, Rangers, Flamethrowers, & Factory Tours

The 2018 Tesla Owner’s Club Leadership Summit was simply a smorgasbord of all things Tesla. Ninety board members of Tesla Clubs from all around the world descended upon Milpitas and Fremont, California. Including those from Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Finland, the UK — so many made the effort to come from far and wide. Deep in conversation on membership and events, Tesla allowed us time (over gratuitous amounts of food) to share valuable ideas on how to better serve our local Tesla owners.
