Our friends at top electric vehicle (EV) data collection and analysis firm EV Volumes have just published European plug-in vehicle sales results for the first half of 2018. The most notable stat is probably the one in the headline — 42% market growth year over year (YoY). Additionally, in total, the number of plug-in vehicles on the street in Europe passed 1 million.

All-electric Renault Kangoo Van Z.E.33 voted ‘Best Green Van’ at Business Van of the Year Awards for the second year in a row
The Renault Kangoo ZE — the current iteration of which (the Kangoo ZE 33) possesses a 124 mile real-world range and is available in a number of different body types meant to suit different uses — won the “Green Award” at the 2018 What Van? Awards that took place in London on December 13th.
The UK-based passenger transport service provider Brighton & Hove Buses has added 6 all-electric Renault Kangoo ZE 33 vans to its fleet, according to an email sent to CleanTechnica.
One of the parts of the auto industry that is best suited to near-term electrification is the delivery vehicle/van segment. Such vehicles — whether inner city parcel delivery trucks, produce trucks, mail delivery vehicles, bakery vans, etc. — generally don’t travel much on a daily basis, and often follow very reliable usage patterns within a strict service area, so there are often no fundamental reasons for the operators of such vehicles to not go electric.
Renault offers affordable all-electric cars and vans with competitive range — today. It is no surprise, therefore, that Renault has just won the Electric Vehicle Manufacturer of the Year award at the 2017 GreenFleet awards.
Renault UK has announced pricing and specification for the new version of the Renault Kangoo Van Z.E. 33. Renault’s refreshed electric van now has a range of 170 miles (NEDC) on a single charge. That means the new Kangoo Van Z.E. 33 has 50% more range than earlier versions. Renault’s press release continues that with a 170 mile (NEDC) range, the new Kangoo Van Z.E. 33 offers the best range of any purely electric van, and it comes in four variants.
The European plug-in car market started its usual holiday season in July, down almost a third compared to the previous month (summertime = lower sales). There were some 19,600 registrations. But that is still up 41% regarding the same month last year, so the growth trend continues. Year to date, the market is up 34% this year, with the EV share now standing at a record 1.6%.
The newly refreshed Renault Kangoo ZE is now on sale in the European market, bringing with it an improved range and a number of other changes.
