Peugeot 3008 PHEV

In Defense Of PHEVs (Probably Part One)

Within two weeks in June, I read two articles on CleanTechnica that somehow made me blush a little. The first one openly said the era of PHEVs must end (something I have said a few times myself, to be honest) and the second one was on SUVs being responsible for growing transport emissions in the EU. The reason I blushed was that a few days before the first of the two articles came out, I had decided to buy (or, to be precise, long-term hire/rent) a PHEV SUV, the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4.

Record EV Sales In Europe

While the overall European market is still in recovery mode in June, down 24% year over year (YoY), the European passenger plugin vehicle market has returned to the fast track, having achieved almost 93,000 registrations in June (+95%).

Switzerland At 10% EV Market Share!

The Swiss electric vehicle market has risen to nearly 10% share of the overall Swiss auto market (9.7%), which is up from 5.5% in the same period of 2019, according to EV Volumes. The EV market’s growth rate was 20% in the first 5 months of the year, while the overall auto market was down 39%.

Europe Hits 11% Plug-in Vehicle Market Share in April

The European passenger plug-in market scored 31,500 registrations in April, down 16% year over year (YoY), which is nevertheless a great performance considering the effect that the several lockdowns across the continent made and the overall market crashing (-78% YoY). That combo inflated last month’s plug-in share to an amazing 11% share.
