Despite the overall automotive market being in the doghouse, -14% year over year (YoY), Europe’s passenger plugin market is on fire, having score a record 166,000 registrations in November (+198% YoY). That placed last month’s plugin share at 16% share — 8% full electrics (BEV).
The German automotive market has opened the floodgates wide open for plugin vehicles. November was yet another record month, and this time with a 24% increase over the previous record, set in October.
While the overall automotive market has seen its blues highlighted by the recent Covid resurgence (down 27% in November), plugin vehicle sales continued to be steaming hot (+204%), with plugin hybrids (PHEVs) growing faster than full electrics (up 291%, to 9,144 units).

The German plugin vehicle market had yet another record month in October, with a little of over 48,000 units registered, and this time it was full electrics (BEVs) driving the market forward, up 365%(!) to 23,158 units. They helped plugin vehicles as a whole jump an amazing 303% last month, with the plugin vehicle share reaching a record 18% (8.4% BEV).
While the overall automotive market is continuing down its negative path (-10% in October), plugin sales continue to be steaming hot (+360%!). Plugin hybrids (PHEVs) are shining above everything else (up 388%, to 9,945 units, a new record).

The German plugin vehicle market had another record month in September, with a little over 41,000 registrations. Plugin hybrid (PHEV) registrations continued going through the roof, up 463% to 20,127 units, helping plugins as a whole jump an amazing 437% last month.
While the overall French automotive market had a so so month (-3% in September), plugin vehicle sales continued to be steaming hot (+322%!). Plugin hybrids (PHEVs) were up 486%, to 7,867 units, faring better than 100% electric vehicles (BEVs), which were up only 138%, to 10,011 registrations.
The European passenger plugin vehicle market is on fire, having gotten over 97,000 registrations in August, +171% year over year (YoY). That put last month’s plugin share at 11% share, or 5.7% fully electric vehicles (BEVs).
