California is the top clean energy state for the third consecutive year, and the American West continues to lead the regional clean tech economy, according to a new ranking from industry analysts Clean Edge.
With the construction industry still recovering in the U.S., companies offering “green” services may be able to set themselves apart and grow business faster, according to a survey conducted by McGraw-Hill Construction.
In 2011, green builds in the residential sector made up 17% of construction, totaling $17 billion in economic activity. And the value of the residential green building market is expected to grow five-fold by 2016, taking up to 38% of the market and representing $87 billion – $114 billion.

Piggy-backing on my article from a few hours ago on how energy-efficiency standards for lights will create thousands of jobs, a new report out on Obama’s Better Buildings Initiative finds that energy-efficiency policies for commercial buildings under this program will create 114,000 jobs.

These days, the whole world is gearing up to go green in order to save the earth. Even, the home builders are coming up with new home designs that are more energy efficient than the traditional homes. The new Energy Star homes are designed in such a way that the energy consumption per house will be 20-30% lesser than a regular home. An Energy Star home also meets certain guidelines for energy effectiveness standard, set by the officials of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Measuring and tracking the energy efficiency of its commercial buildings is now included in a formal benchmarking program that has been launched by the City of Seattle.
