The Rise and Rise of the Wuling Mini EV.
While the overall Chinese auto market ended the year on a positive note (+12% YoY), plugins ended with a record month, growing by 50% YoY in in the last month of the year to a record 224,000 units, and this time it was plugin hybrids (PHEVs) that grew faster (+108%) than full electrics (+42%).
While the overall Chinese auto market is slowly picking up (+12% year over year in November), plugin vehicles are already on the fast lane, growing by 138% year over year (YoY) to a record 198,000 units.
While the overall Chinese auto market kept positive numbers last month, +9% year over year (YoY), plugins vehicle sales were firmly in the fast lane, growing by 120% YoY in October to 147,000 units, a new year best
The overall Chinese market remained positive in September (+8% year over year/YoY), with plugin vehicles faring even better, growing by 66% YoY in September to 131,000 registrations. That’s a new year best for plugin vehicles
The overall Chinese auto market remained in positive numbers last month, +6% year over year (YoY), with plugins faring even better, growing 30% YoY last month to 100,000 units, a new year best.
A star is born in China. And it is not the flashy Xpeng P7 (1,725 units) or BYD Han EV (1,205), but something far more humble. More on that below.
