WAVE 2011: EV Road Trip Race!

All sorts of races and challenges for electric cars have been successfully completed this year, and the WAVE 2011 is no exception. The WAVE is a road trip through Europe, stopping in cities such as Paris, Vienna, and Prague. Each leg of the trip is 75 miles, with no more than 250 miles allowed per car per day – still much farther than most people drive!

eCarLiveDrive 2011 – Test Drive a 155mph SuperBus!

The eCarTec fair in Munich this month addresses issues of energy, infrastructure, and finance, as related to electric vehicles and energy conservation technology. To get visitors in the door, the fair has announced eCarLiveDrive — a host of EVs to test drive on a 0.6 mile test course are part of the package, including a massive Dutch “superbus” prototype.

Tokyo Tower — Powered by People (on Bicycles)

Tokyo Tower has been crushed by Godzilla more times than I can count. Its presence silently locates any scene in Tokyo. While not always visible in the midst of a skyline filled with high-rises and skyscrapers, its orange and white figure is instantly recognizable. Built as a broadcast station in 1958, it is illuminated every night and broadcasts television and radio (analog and digital) 24/7.
